Guitar Hero 2, You Still Rock

Well, I still want it, but not as badly. I'm managing to get over my desire for it by playing lots of Guitar Hero 2, which I have for the PS2.
I hadn't picked up the game in awhile — in fact, I hadn't even unboxed my PS2 since we moved — but I set it up over the weekend and have been playing GH2 a lot.
I finally moved on to Hard in the career mode (I know, there are kids out there who could kick my ass), so it's keeping me busy.
Side note: Would my PS2's wired GH2 guitar work with Rock Band on the PS3?

I want Rock Band.
I really want Rock Band.
But I just can't justify buying it.
I have this whole process mapped out in my head, but I can't take the first step — and I probably won't.
Now that it looks like Blu-ray will win the next-gen DVD format war, I figure it's a safe time to buy a PlayStation 3, which features a built-in BD drive.
