vmarscover.jpgDebbie and I finished the third and final season of Veronica Mars last night and SPOILER ALERT we were obviously disappointed.

We've watched all three seasons over the past few months (thanks, writer's strike) and really enjoyed it. But the haphazard ending, thanks to its cancellation left us unfulfilled.

When I tell people about the show, I compare it to a high-school version of Scooby-Doo (minus the talking dog). Veronica, the way overachieving high schooler, solves mysteries as a private investigator, and seems to run in to scandal and murder wherever she goes.

The show wasn't that realistic (seriously, can one person have so much death in their life and still crack jokes on a regular basis?), but it was well-written, and it spoke to a generation. The characters were mostly well-developed, and the plotlines were engaging.

It's too bad that the series finale left so much unanswered — and didn't get Veronica and Logan back together — but at least we get more Kristen Bell in Heroes.

If you have some time and enjoy serialized, California shows (24, anyone?), give Veronica Mars a chance.

Heroes, WTF: Why Aren't You on Sale?

Posted by junger | February 22nd, 2008

heroeshddvd.jpgThe format war is over. Now that HD DVD has lost, retailers across the Interwebs are putting titles on sale.

Amazon has discs on sale from 30%-57% off. Fry's has a load of movies for $14.99. The Xbox 360 external drive only costs $50!

Yet the only title I want that this format war has kept me from purchasing — Heroes Season 1 — hasn't dropped one penny in price.

No one has the discs on sale. I seriously don't get it. It's not like HD DVD is still, you know, alive.

The cheapest price online, according to Google Product search, is $66.99 (from sketchy SuperDuperClub.com).

I wouldn't be surprised if this season is never released on Blu-ray.

Heroes' Adrian Pasdar, Videoblogger

While listening to the most recent edition of The 10th Wonders, a podcast about Heroes, I found out about the behind-the-scenes videos posted on YouTube by Adrian Pasdar, who plays Nathan Petrelli.

He's got a number of videos up on his YouTube page, including some great clips of David Anders (Heroes' Adam Monroe and Alias' Sark) singing and Greg Grunberg (also of Alias fame) acting goofy.

For the most part, the videos aren't highly trafficked — the most viewed one has 74,000 views. But they're a great look at behind-the-scenes of Heroes.

I'm surprised TMZ hasn't picked up on them yet.

Here's one of my favorites, a prank featuring Masi Oka (an Asian-American Whiz Kid) in the makeup chair.

The Battle For Monday Night: Jack Bauer vs. Heroes

I've been a die-hard 24 fan since I began watching the show (I even had a Jack Bauer profile on facebook for awhile, at least until they deleted it).

But Jack has some competition this year from one of the best new shows on TV: Heroes.
