Revision3 has a new show out today, The Digg Reel, hosted by Jessica Corbin and featuring videos from Digg.com's Video section.

I just watched the first episode, and yeah, it's a stinker.

It seems like it's intended to be a funny show, but it's not. The lone personality talking to the camera and making lame jokes is pretty lame.

If it was Kevin or Alex, the hosts of Diggnation, doing the job, it might be a different story. But at least we have an idea of what Jessica Corbin has been up to, since she was MIA from the last episode of Tekzilla (at CES) and hasn't appeared in many (if any) of the Tekzilla Daily episodes.

Stan Schroeder at Mashable seems to have enjoyed the episode, but nearly all of Digg disagrees.

Colesif:

Can we leave this to Kevin and Alex please?

XedLos:

Honestly i have watched all of the videos b4 so it becomes boring. And honestly Jessica's jokes arn't really funny. Seriously Rev3 should drop this show.

I've never been such a big fan of Jessica Corbin's before — she's totally overmatched on Tekzilla with Patrick Norton. And even though Mathew Ingram puts her in the league of CNet's Natali del Conte and Rocketboom's Joanne Colan, I really don't get the comparison — she's not really funny and isn't as … bubbly.

If I want to see the top videos on Digg, I'll go there. The reason I watch Diggnation isn't because of the stories, it's because of the personalities and their takes on the stories.

The Digg Reel — so far — doesn't have that.

PS - Jim Louderback should replace Corbin on Tekzilla. His work with Patrick Norton last week was great, and he obviously really knows his stuff.

Mitt Romney is Now My Friend on Digg

Me and Mitt

I got this email today:

Your friend, Mitt Romney, has also added you to his list of friends. You are now mutual friends! Check out his profile here:

Cheers,

The Digg Team

It's a good thing he doesn't know I'm also friends with Ron Paul.

If he does, as my friend and co-worker Gordon opined, "don't worry, he'll change his mind."

Won't you be my friend on digg?

PS - Big Love.

The Problem With Digg Users: You Can't Leave

Posted by junger | December 21st, 2007

Digg users are huge fanboys — that's a given. But they're so loyal to the site that they won't leave it, even when they get banned and buried.

diggsign.jpg

Why?

Tamar Weinberg lists a number of problems with Digg, suggesting that no one pay the $300m asking price the company is shopping itself for.

People getting banned from the site seems to be a regular occurrence (my entire office got banned for digging from the same IP), but they all seem to want back in.

Is Digg more of a crack to people than Facebook?

Why can't Digg users find another site to share social news? There's a huge market out there, and for start-ups like Mixx, there's an opportunity to become an early power user.

Digg users, don't become blinded by an allegiance to the site. Obviously, the folks behind it seem to want out.

(You can still watch Diggnation even if you aren't a regular digger. It's OK.)

Handbell Hero (via Webb Alert) - holiday Guitar Hero for the people who can't even play a fake guitar.

Ding Dong, Digg is Dead - Copyblogger Brian Clark has been essentially blacklisted by Digg, he says.

That's okay, BC — your type of content is way more conducive to traffic from StumbleUpon, which is nearly as heavy and lasts a lot longer.

Roger Chang quits DL.TV… headed to Revision3? - Roger Chang is leaving DL.TV, the video podcast he produced and co-hosted with Robert Heron. I heard the announcement on Cranky Geeks today, but Chang didn't say where he is going.

Of course, speculation will center that he's heading to Revision3, where former DL.TV host Patrick Norton left for a couple months back.
