I just got caught up on the series this weekend. Since I had put off watching the two hour special in the fall, I got an extra bonus too. I agree that Washington DC is better then LA, but don't care for the slower pace myself. I'm hoping that at some point we'll see them kick off something big, like an assasination on the female president or a large scale terrorist attack on one of the DC landmarks. 24 is at it's best when everyone is in full crisis mode and I've always liked that they weren't afraid to take things to the edge.
I'm a little ticked off that they brought Tony back but I'm not surprised that they did. Sometimes, 24 can be a little soap operaish. While it's nice having Tony back on the show, bringing a dead man back takes away a little bit of the bite. If anyone can automatically be added back to the show, the deaths during each season are less powerful. I like that CTU has been broken up, but don't know that I buy into the we're so top secret that we have to work outside the government line yet.
I'm really getting into the new staff at the FBI. After seeing the same characters over the years, it's nice to have some new blood to kill off. Overall I felt like the 2 hours in Africa were better then the first five hours of the season, but it's still one of the best shows on TV. Now that I'm caught up, I may go back to watching this season once a week, but the cliffhangers at the end of each show are killer, so it's nice to have a couple lined up in a row.

Davis — one thing you don't have to worry about: they will never bring Edgar back from the dead.
Like I said in the review for week 2, the Africa plot line seems to silliest to me. It's out of context for the show.
When 24 focuses on a big conspiracy (like season 1 or parts of season 5), it's much more enjoyable than the should-we-go-to-war plotlines.
