Killing Trees, One Press Release at a Time
Posted by junger - 10/23/07 at 12:10:14 pmI get a lot of press releases — it's part of the job.
I can handle inbox overflow, but I cannot stand receiving snail-mail envelopes stuffed with press releases, catalogs and photos of products. It's completely unnecessary!
Nearly every paper press release I get goes directly into my trash can. Thanks, marketing departments, for killing trees.
The worst offenders are exhibitors at tradeshows. Give me thumb drive! Or even a CD! There's no way in hell I'm shlepping around your 2 lb. press materials with all of the other releases I've gotten.
Paper press releases have gone the way of the dinosaur. Get with the program.
Haven't you ever heard of an attachment? What about a PDF?
Make your email press release attractive to me: tell me "the news" in the subject line, paste a text (not HTML) version of the press release into the email, and leave it there.
I'm not a super treehugger or anything, but how much paper is wasted on sending me stuff that I'm going to end up junking in the end? Too much!
Send me email press releases. Not paper ones. Please.
