One of the most difficult times in the life of a content producer (whether a writer, musician, filmmaker, artist, etc.) is the dreaded funk.
You know, that period of time where nothing creative is flowing. At all.
It's tough. You know you have plow through. You can't just give up. But nothing's coming.
I've always had ideas come in spurts. I get a lot of creativity at once, and then I'm burnt out.
I try and get as much out as possible when the creative juices are flowing, but it doesn't always last through the next funk.
But when I'm in a funk, I look for some inspiration.
How can I achieve my goals differently? Am I just trying to replicate what I've done before? Most of the time, it's thinking outside of the box that gets me out of the creative funk.
If I'm in a writing funk, I'll do a bit of creative video. If the music isn't coming, I'll work on a site.
When you're in a creative funk, re-evaluate your goal and expectations. There's another way to succeed.
