In my recent freelance gig with ElectronicHouse.com, I've contributed a couple of breaking news stories concerning the roll-out of one of the two new high-def DVD formats, Blu-ray.

I was the first to confirm that Sony's BDP-S1 player would be delayed from its October launch date, due to a software problem in the system's hardware.
Just days later, I broke the news that Pioneer's first stand-alone Blu-ray player, the BDP-HD1, would also be delayed until December due to "quality control issues."
Blu-ray, backed by companies such as Sony, Pioneer, Philips and Samsung, is in a format war with HD DVD, backed by Toshiba, Microsoft, Intel and others, for control of the high-definition DVD marketplace.
I've covered the topic extensively for CEPro.com. (See Blu-ray and HD DVD.)
