Advertising 101: You Are Ugly (Or How to Get Attention)

I never took advertising or marketing in school (I was a journalism major), but I know enough from writing for the Web that it's great headlines and a little bit of oddness that works.

And by oddness, I mean weird, which is exactly what I found after completing the ProBlogger quiz. On the results page, this is one of the ads I was presented with.

You Are Extremely Ugly

Now, that's saying something. Obviously, it caught my eye (and I'm sure I wasn't the only one to see it), so it worked.

But it just goes to show the importance of packaging your product. I didn't click on the link, but chances are the offer is no different than the hordes of other data entry jobs out there. The packaging, however, delivered.
